The tvLINK technology, allows the user to watch and control the STB channel from 2 or more locations. A number of PayTV providers of late have decided to bring out tvLINK enabled dual decode / 2 channel STBs so as to allow their customers to watch 2 channels simultaneously.
The tvLINK technology can be integrated within any STB. TvLINK has proved exceptionally popular with customers who have a PVR as it allows them to watch their recorded and/or time shifted programming from other TVs within their home.
Typically the cost to implement tvLINK within a STB is less than $1, the tvLINK remote eye costs are heavily dependant on both the final stylisation and route to market, however as an indication the BSkyB unit is typically sold at retail for less than $25.
